My journey starts a little over six years ago with the pregnancy and birth of my first child.  My pregnancy was nearly flawless; I got a rash near the end. My waters started leaking at 1.30am Easter Sunday morning and leaked steadily through the day. I had no contractions and even got into bed that night, almost asleep and little Ryzer gave me the hardest (what I thought was a punch) kick that it made me bolt upright. Most of my pregnancy was unassisted, although I had 3 very limited “prenatal” visits overall with an incredible midwife friend who was fully supportive of my plans to freebirth but helped me get my breast pump through insurance and filled out my FMLA paperwork. I also reconnected with a childhood friend who has had her own babies unassisted and who blessed us by attending Joanna’s birth.

Sunday, February 11th at 8am on the dot I woke up to pee. While on the toilet I had a very painful contraction that annoyed me more than anything because I thought there was no way today was the day. I was 39 weeks, 5 days pregnant with my 3rd baby, 2nd free birth, and this was the longest I'd ever been pregnant. My older boys came at 37+3, and 37+6 on their own, so I thought for sure this babe would be the same.
