The world is changing before our eyes.
Across the planet, women are resonating with the birth liberation movement like never before in history, choosing sovereign birth and tapping into the ancient wisdom embedded in our very biology with a sense of profound recognition. As this shift accelerates, the need for genuine, knowledgeable, authentic birth keepers, coaches, and educators who know and cherish the very essence of birth in power is essential.
In a world where modern obstetrics still dominates (even so-called “natural birth”) our ground-breaking program is an invitation to explore the intersection of physiology and the philosophy of what constitutes truly sovereign birth. The Compass isn't merely about re-learning what birth is and how it works; it's about ensuring that women everywhere have truly respectful, uplifting, intelligent, effective support that sees them as the central authority of their experience.
You know your calling is to facilitate the healing of motherbaby on planet earth.
The Compass is for you if…
You love birth, but the politics of birth confuses you.
If you're drawn to the world of birth but perplexed by its seemingly intricate politics, including the competition and territorialism among midwives, this course will provide clarity.
You're new to the birth world.
If you’re considering radical birth keeping or service to women in any capacity, it's crucial to understand the foundations first. This program will guide you there.
You're working within the system, but have your doubts.
If you're currently a midwife, a doula, or a birth professional working within the institution and you’re starting to question the prevailing obstetric model, find your answers here.
You're seeking a better way in birth-work.
If you're wondering whether there's a more genuine, ethical approach to birth-work that avoids harmful practices, this course will guide you.
You're curious about the Radical Birth Keeper School.
If you're intrigued by RBK but aren't sure about taking the full plunge yet, begin here. This is your starting point, the foundation before you dive deeper.
You've heard about Emilee and Yolande.
Curious about us? Ever wondered what drives our passion? Have you heard that we’re “extreme” (or more?) This course unveils our motivations and why we’ve chosen our path.
Have you ever wondered...
𖦹 What truly lies at the heart of radical birth keeping?
𖦹 How do I talk about the politics of birth with clarity and power?
𖦹 What are the core differences between the medical birth system and the sovereign birth paradigm, and why does this difference matter?
𖦹 How do we effectively critique the ethics of the prevailing obstetric model and why is this important?
𖦹 How do I navigate challenging conversations and skepticism surrounding freebirth and authentic midwifery without falling into fruitless debate and defensiveness?
You're not alone.
Everything you need to understand the two paradigms of birth work, including modules on:
What *is* industrial birth, how do we identify it, how do we differentiate it from sovereign birth, and in what sense is the industrial birth model replicated covertly in so-called “natural birth” communities?
How has this phenomenon of “birth in captivity,” as Sister MorningStar describes it, become so universally prevalent across our planet?
In this chapter, Emilee and Yolande break down industrial birth as you’ve never encountered it described before, revealing the ways that “human rights” in childbirth and “informed consent” are mythological constructs that actually serve to uphold and perpetuate obstetric rape, trauma,
Opinions abound online and in birth communities as to what constitutes “authentic midwifery,” but in reality, most birth workers are deeply confused about who they are and their role in the world, precisely on account of the way the politics of birth and birth-work are constructed.
For the past decade, Yolande and Emilee have been at the forefront of articulating a clear, consistent, integral framework for understanding what it is to embody the work of authentic midwifery in the context of understanding what true power, responsibility, and appropriate authority look like.
What *is* physiological birth, really, and why is it that so many midwives and obstetricians invoke the term “physiological birth” while describing the very same procedures and approach to birth that defines industrial birth?
In this module, discover why the term “physiological birth” has come to replace “natural birth,” why so many mothers (and midwives) describe heavily sabotaged and traumatizing births as “physiological,” and how one’s definition of “physiological birth” will always depend on the kind of perspective, education, and experience we receive as birth-keepers.
What is freebirth, and what is freebirth not? There is so much confusion out there about what a woman’s underlying motivations might be for choosing freebirth, and who has a right to do so.
How does freebirth fit into the landscape of the sovereign paradigm, and why is it important for birth keepers, authentic midwives, and birth professionals to have some knowledge and respect for freebirth in particular?
This module will offer an overview of how freebirth and sovereign birth are distinct, and the profound connections between the two, and will give you an understanding of why freebirth will always be linked to the reclamation of midwifery.
The majority of women who choose the sovereign birth paradigm often do so having first experienced birth trauma as a result of direct obstetric violence in a clinical setting or midwifery betrayal.
In this module, we articulate what birth trauma is, how it happens, the nuances and subjectivities of what trauma constitutes, and how to begin supporting women who have suffered from trauma during birth.
Understanding the landscape of obstetrics and how it is orchestrated to manufacture trauma is a requirement for learning the skills to effectively support women in acknowledging, processing, and healing birth trauma.
In this module, Emilee and Yolande share the video footage of a variety of births that women have volunteered to share especially for this program, with Yo and Emilee’s recorded analysis and critique.
These video clips range from hospital birth, to homebirth with midwives, to freebirth. All depict varying degrees of sabotage and/or harmonization with the biological rhythms of the birth process, along with a number of variations of normal, which provides a crucial degree of context and perspective to anchor the wider discussion in the rest of the modules.
The Compass is your pathway–your guiding light–to unraveling the truth –the truth which on some level, you already know.

Meet Yolande Norris-Clark
Yolande Norris-Clark’s passion and mission in life is to dispel the myth that childbirth is an ordeal from which women must be “delivered”, and to celebrate the reality that birth is biologically designed to be ecstatic, delightful, joyous, and beautiful: a catalyst for self-love, healing, and insight, as well as the formative first step on the path to peaceful parenting.
It’s Yolande’s conviction that women who are awake and birthing their babies in power will change their own lives, and the world. Yolande recently gave birth to her ninth baby, who, like his siblings, was freeborn at home.
She is the author and co-creator of Free Birth Society’s highly acclaimed online course, “The Complete Guide to Freebirth”, and her first book, “Portal” is out now.
A compassionate and sought-after coach, Yolande has supported many hundreds of women and families all over the world in establishing the tools, mindset, and perspective that result in peaceful birth and connected mothering.
