As a former 2x traditional surrogate (meaning they were my biological children), these episodes affirmed what I’ve been feeling all these years. My heart broke countless times listening to these episodes. I live with deep pain and regret every day and have for years now. I am so grateful that you’re all sharing the dark underbelly of this horrific industry. Thank you for sharing this with your audience. I have no doubt (and surely hope) some women listened and decided against pursuing surrogacy.

The name of the Swedish anti-surrogacy and anti-prostitution activist Yolande mentioned is Kajsa Ekis Ekman.
I had a great aunt who couldn’t get pregnant so she and her husband found some poor, working class woman in LA with a womb for hire. Her husband impregnated her (this was the 1950’s so I’m not sure exactly how that went down) and when she had the baby they all went to the hospital. My aunt walked away with a baby and her name on the birth certificate. So Handmaiden’s Tale it’s scary.

Can we have the name of the author who write about surrogacy and prostitution, she (he?) was named in the first 20 minutes of the episode ? Thanks!
